September Case Files - First Reveal | Deadline: October 4, 2022

Happy September, CSI Investigators! How fast did summer fly by? Kids are going back to school already, and fall is just waiting around the corner. We're excited to bring you a new month of fun and inspiring challenges and lots of beautiful inspiration.

For this first reveal, we'll be sharing inspiration from the design team and guest designers for our first Case File. On the 15th, we'll be sharing inspiration for our second Case File.

We're excited to introduce Heather Bellanger as our newest Detective. Please give her a warm welcome!

We are teaming up with Soul Scrappers this month. Make sure to also post your layouts in their Facebook group for a chance to win one of their prizes too.

Hi C.S.I members! We are very fortunate to be collaborating with CSI for our first Facebook anniversary. Please come and check out our challenge site. We run six challenges each month with prizes! We will be having some games as well with added prizes so don’t miss out on the fun!! Please add your page creation for Case File No. 394 and 395 to our C.S.I challenge albums for your chance to win prizes on our site too. Looking forward to having a fun month of challenges! Special thanks to Debbi Tehrani for supporting our challenge site!

CSI will be giving away a $20 (U.S. dollars) gift certificate to your favorite online craft store (must take Paypal) to one lucky player each month.

We'll also be inviting some players whose work catches our eye to serve as Guest Detectives.

With kids going back to school, we thought we'd celebrate that with our first Case File. And did you know that National Ampersand Day is in September? We've got a Case File for that too! As always, you don't have to scrap these topics. Draw your own inspiration from The Scene on the Case File, or you can use the traditional clues, which can be found at the bottom of this blog post.

These talented ladies' work caught our eye in previous months' challenges, so we invited them to be guest designers for the month.

Hello to all my scrappy friends, my name is Jessica Navarro and I’m super excited to be a Guest Detective for CSI this month! I’m an Sr. Vice President/Electrical Engineer at an amazing firm designing hospitals by day and a wife/mama by night. I’ve been married to a wonderful man for over 13 years that completely supports my craft obsession. He even encourages me to purchase crafty supplies – stay back, he’s mine! I’m a mommy to a super intelligent and independent 11-year-old, who is officially the most photographed child in the world; seriously, it’s a documented fact. I’ve been scrapbooking for almost 30 years and I love using challenges, like CSI, to push my creative limits and to use more of my overflowing stash. Come check out more of my crafty layouts on my blog at: or on IG @jessicanavarro75.

How I solved the Case: I was inspired by the scheme to pull out my "school" products, but I didn't want to complete a "school" layout. I got creative and decided to create a layout about my daughter's summer camp experience at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science. I solved Case File No. 394 using the color scheme: Orange, Aqua, Chartreuse, and Chocolate Brown. For my evidence I used woodgrain alphas, hexagons, school-themed items (microscope, beakers, and overall science motif), globes, labels, a spiral punch along the right of the photos, and puffy alpha stickers. For my testimony I underlined my journaling on Elle's Studio labels.

This was a fun and versatile case file and I thoroughly enjoyed playing along. Join CSI this month and solve the case yourself!

Supplies used on my layout: DCWV paper; Belle Blvd Pop Quiz Ephemera; Elle's Studio journaling notes, stamps, and alphas; Simple Stories woodgrain alphas; CTMH plastic accessories and alpha stamps; Tim Holtz, Alte&New, and TCW stencils; distress oxide walnut stain; and Nuvo Stone Drops boulder gray.

And now, are you ready for some serious inspiration? Here's what our design team and Guest Detectives created with this month's first Case File. We will share creations for our other Case File on the 15th of the month.

The CSI design team masterfully cracked the Case. We'll share how we solved the Case on Facebook and Instagram.
