CASE FILES

With kids going back to school, we thought we'd celebrate that with our first Case File. And did you know that National Ampersand Day is in September? We've got a Case File for that too! As always, you don't have to scrap these topics. Draw your own inspiration from The Scene on the Case File, or you can use the traditional clues, which can be found at the bottom of this blog post.

GALLERY FAVE GUEST DETECTIVES

These talented ladies' work caught our eye in previous months' challenges, so we invited them to be guest designers for the month.

Hello to all my scrappy friends, my name is Jessica Navarro and I’m super excited to be a Guest Detective for CSI this month! I’m an Sr. Vice President/Electrical Engineer at an amazing firm designing hospitals by day and a wife/mama by night. I’ve been married to a wonderful man for over 13 years that completely supports my craft obsession. He even encourages me to purchase crafty supplies – stay back, he’s mine! I’m a mommy to a super intelligent and independent 11-year-old, who is officially the most photographed child in the world; seriously, it’s a documented fact. I’ve been scrapbooking for almost 30 years and I love using challenges, like CSI, to push my creative limits and to use more of my overflowing stash. Come check out more of my crafty layouts on my blog at: scraplifterdesigns.blogspot.com or on IG @jessicanavarro75.

How I solved the Case: I was inspired by the scheme to pull out my "school" products, but I didn't want to complete a "school" layout. I got creative and decided to create a layout about my daughter's summer camp experience at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science. I solved Case File No. 394 using the color scheme: Orange, Aqua, Chartreuse, and Chocolate Brown. For my evidence I used woodgrain alphas, hexagons, school-themed items (microscope, beakers, and overall science motif), globes, labels, a spiral punch along the right of the photos, and puffy alpha stickers. For my testimony I underlined my journaling on Elle's Studio labels.

This was a fun and versatile case file and I thoroughly enjoyed playing along. Join CSI this month and solve the case yourself!

Supplies used on my layout: DCWV paper; Belle Blvd Pop Quiz Ephemera; Elle's Studio journaling notes, stamps, and alphas; Simple Stories woodgrain alphas; CTMH plastic accessories and alpha stamps; Tim Holtz, Alte&New, and TCW stencils; distress oxide walnut stain; and Nuvo Stone Drops boulder gray.

INSPIRATION

And now, are you ready for some serious inspiration? Here's what our design team and Guest Detectives created with this month's first Case File. We will share creations for our other Case File on the 15th of the month.

The CSI design team masterfully cracked the Case. We'll share how we solved the Case on Facebook and Instagram.
