Case File No. 261 - Deadline: September 30, 2018

Happy September! Summer sure flew by, but we're excited to start a new month at CSI because a new month means new challenges, new sponsors, and new guest designers.

Our challenges stay open all month long. And did you know that you are welcome to submit as many layouts as you'd like for the challenges? We also don't mind if you combine our challenge with other challenges or with your design team work. We are here to inspire you to scrap and tell your story!

So, are you ready for the new challenge? Grab you forensics kits, CSI players, and get ready for some serious sleuthing as we open Case File No. 261.

CASE FILE

Here in the United States, September signals the start of school, so we're celebrating back to school with this challenge. To help us do that, we found this awesome Scene by Belgian illustrator Tinne Cornelissen to inspire our Case File.

No worries if you don't have back-to-school photos. Remember, the Scene is very open-ended. Use the colors, or some of the elements from The Scene. Maybe you've learned a life lesson outside of school.

Feel free to interpret the Case File in any way that inspires you, or for our traditional clues, scroll down to the bottom of this post.

For our Russian players, Detective Anastasia has translated our Case File into Russian:

GUEST DESIGNERS

We're excited have talented design team members from Cuts2luv and Scrapmatts join us as Guest Detectives this month.

INSPIRATION

So...are you ready for some serious inspiration?

The inspiring design team from Cuts2luv solved the Case File like this:

Caroline's blog

Torsa's blog

Valerie's blog

How Valerie solved the Case File: I was inspired by a large selection of items (the color combo, ledger paper, clock, school-themed items, light bulbs, ink, stamp, envelope)

Lizzy Crust, our inspiring Guest Detective from the Scrapmatts design team masterfully solved the Case like this:

Lizzy's blog
I have used the colors, I have scrapped about my daughter in year 1 at school, as well as using a solid white back ground, ledger paper print, fruit (apples) calendar, clock, film strip, school themed elements, numbers and stamps.
Tania's blog

Here is how the CSI Detectives have expertly cracked the case. You can read more about how the Case File inspired them on their blogs (links on sidebar).

How Debbi solved the Case File: Tracee and I were looking for a photo to work on together for this Case File, and we thought the colors in these silly pictures were perfect. We didn't mean for the photos to be silly--well, except for that third one--but the bright summer sun was in our eyes. The outtakes always make for a fun layout. I used the colors from the Case File, as well as almost all of the Evidence clues. I managed to pull in the school-related theme for my journaling using the inspiration word "lesson."

How Lisa-Marie solved the Case File: The colours in this palette are slowly becoming a firm favourite of mine, so it was definitely a challenge I thoroughly enjoyed working with! I took inspiration from the animal and leaves and as such, added two flamingos and some flower stickers. To mimic the design of the calendar, and photo strip, I chose a background paper that has bricks and I also used a stencil with a grid design. My title has lines and swirls in it - which echoes the wires on the inspiration image.

How Nina solved the Case File: While I was relaxing on holiday, my daughter and her friend went to summer classes in ballet, hiphop and modern dances. So for testimony I chose to document this. On the photo we are in the centre of Oslo, looking for the dance school. The evidence I used was solid white background, clip, diagonal stripes and a number.I really loved the colour combination of the challenge, and intended to use all of them, but it became a challenge with my limited holiday kit:-)

How Louise solved the Case File: White background, film strip, school theme and calendar. I also documented a school moment and used the colour inspiration.

How Edit solved the Case File: This is my layout, I was inspired by diagonal stripes, leaves and clock.

How Vivian solved the Case File: I chose the Prompt Idea this time and browsed the list of list ideas. The "Currently" one jumped out at me. I decided to do a bit of colour blocking and chose embellishments for my page that (mostly) matched the colours of my papers.

How Lisa solved the Case File: I was inspired by the colors and photo. As evidence, I used a solid white background, diagonal stripes, ruler and border punch. I used the inspiration word "organize" for my testimony.

How Natsuko solved the Case File: I chose solid white background, numbers from the evidence and the colors. For my title, I used some letters from an old scrabble game, which also reminds me of my young school days:)

How Libeeti solved the Case File: I went old school again. used all 5 colors. my clues were: diagonal stripes, animal (Hedwig on the photo, butterflies), leaves, clock, filmstrip, ruller & numbers (stencil with modeling paste), ink.stamps. I used the inspiration word 'lesson' for my journaling, which is one life's best lessons.

How Annie solved the Case File: I went old school again as I love following the clues, had loads of fun making this page, using mostly scraps of older papers and about a million die cuts! Some of the things I love about my little step-granddaughter are listed around the edge of the page.

How Jess solved the Case File: I was so drawn to the colour scheme of this case file! I have scrapped my sons first day in year 4. The evidence I've used is: solid white background, fruit patterned paper, ink and a border punch. The dreamy colour scheme pairs so well with a bit of sparkle so I added a touch of gold!

How Patty solved the Case File: My inspiration is the love our family members have for each other!

How Laura solved the Case File: white background, ledger paper, cat, hand drawn looking elements, stamps. journaled about my pet

How Kim solved the Case File: I used the colors and a couple of the clues (leaves, frames) to interpret the case.

How Anastasia solved the Case File: I used colours, almost all clues (I counted 14) and hid my journaling in an envelope (it's behind the photo). This LO is inspired by colours mostly, and it's about my fitness class.

How Ginger solved the Case File: I chose to use the colors for this layout. This is my oldest grandson Logan. He is starting college at OSU and this is his sweet picture which goes perfectly with the colors. Love him!!!
