INSPIRATION

So...are you ready for some serious inspiration?

Here is how the CSI Detectives have expertly cracked the case. You can read more about how the Case File inspired them on their blogs (links on sidebar).

How Lisa-Marie solved the Case: From the image inspiration, I used light grey, white, teal, icy blue and a deep cherry red. I was immediately inspired by all the distressed / worn elements in the image and so chose a backing paper that has a distressed look - and I also distressed all the edges of my multitude of layers. The backing page also has some script text on it, as does some of my paper and the ephemera I have used - all of these are a direct inspiration taken from the books. Although the red in the image is very minimal, my eye was drawn there over and over - so I decided that I wanted to create the same effect on my layout - by using very little red - but make it punchy; hence the wings. I also added a little bird to my layout. The image is made up of a lot of squares and rectangles - so my layering and my stencil work comprises rectangles, squares and grid. My journalling stems from the prompt "what would you like to find at the end of the rainbow?"

How Lisa solved the Case: I was inspired by the colors. I used book pages, metal, distressing and lots of layers for my evidence. I documented something about books and used the word "hide" for my testimony.

How Nina solved the Case: I was inspired by the scene and wanted to document my love for reading. I used to read a lot, but then came years with children, busy workdays, smartphones and social media, and suddenly time flew by and the only books I read were children’s books. I am now slowly taking back my reading time, and I love it.Evidence: plaid pattern, text print, animal, button, puffy sticker and envelope.

How Louise solved the Case: Colour inspiration and the books inspired me to tell the story of our Christmas Eve books.

I loved the color scheme and wanted to create a layout with the same grunge feel as The Scene. I used most of the traditional Case File Evidence clues (old BasicGrey solid, check pattern, text print, metal, dog photo, fabric, buttons, puffy stickers, light bulb, distressing, inked edges, and lots of layers). My page design was inspired by a digital template I saw at Designer Digitals.

How Jess solved the Case: I was really inspired by the Dog in the picture and wanted to create a layout of my pup! As I didn't have any garnet red in my stash I swapped it for magenta and used all of the other colours in the palette. For the testimony I hid my journalling in an envelope that I used as one of my layers. I tried to incorporate as much evidence as I could and ended up adding grid pattern, book page, metal, dog, fabric, button, puffy stickers, light bulb, inked edges, envelope and of course lots of layers!

How Sue solved the Case: I have used the colours and chose an old-world photo that had tiles, windows and doors that fit with the scene. Other elements, I have used are the whitewashed, vintage paper, containers, layers and text print.

How Michelle solved the Case: I loved this inspiration, it made think of when my kids were younger and had book week at school - my daughter loved Nancy Drew books (and computer games  ) I used an incredible Book stamp by Darkroom door, coloured with Colour Blast Australia Artist inks which I also used to make a background in the colour scheme. So happy with the way it turned out!

How Annie solved the Case: I really loved the unusual inspiration image, used all the colours and lots of items from the Evidence list. My journaling is hidden in the envelope with the speech bubble window which I made from recycled junk mail.

How Ginger solved the Case: I love the colors so I added this sweet photo of my grandson Jaxson and his little dog Buddy!

How Natsuko solved the Case: I just used the color palette in this Case File. This is my daughter with her best friend's dog. She is allergic to dogs, but she can't resist hugging him and she always gets a runny nose, sneezing and red eyes afterwards...

How Vivian solved the Case: I was inspired by 3 different Testimony clues this time! I've used the inspiration word "hide", documented something about books, and hidden my journaling!

How Raechelle solved the Case: I was most inspired by the books and colors. For Evidence I used some book print and layers on the border and Testimony I documented about books

How Laura solved the Case: I used books, distressing, inked edges, book plate, button (flair), and text washi. Journaled about passing on the love of books to the next generation.

How Marinella solved the Case: I was inspired by the light grey the white and the teal of the combo. Inspired from the image I choose to realize these two column of pieces of paper layering one on each other. There are a lot of squares and grid in the paper I choose in this layout. I used a text stamp on the background.

How Patty solved the Case: I was inspired by the gorgeous color combination!
