INSPIRATION

So...are you ready for some serious inspiration?

Here is how the CSI Detectives have expertly cracked the case. You can read more about how the Case File inspired them on their blogs.

How Patty solved the Case File: I was inspired by the colors and a photo I had of Elizabeth, our daughter.

How Carina solved the Case File: The kindergarten children made me think of my own as little ones. The houses in the background reminds me of England and I got to think about the first time we went to London with our children back in 1997! They were only 4,5 and 2 years old then - geez time really flies!

How Natsuko solved the Case File: I used the color palette, paint, puffy stickers and twine. I also took inspiration from the picture, and divided my layout in two parts.

How Debbi solved the Case File: I first started thinking about using a quadrant design, since the schoolhouse on the Case File has four rooms, and then I decided I wanted to recreate The Scene on my page. I wasn't able to create a quadrant in the little schoolhouse I created because I printed my picture too big, and since I scrap 8 x 8, the photo was already pretty small. Plus I don't like to re-print photos because I'm cheap like that. As you can see, I used many of the details from The Scene on my page, as well as the colors from the clues at the bottom of this blog post, which were perfect for this photo of me and my student.

How Libeeti solved the Case File: As always, I worked with the traditional way. I've used all 5 colors. My clues were: solid cs, scallops, clouds, labels, flowers, a twine (also tied in a knot), and stamping. I used the labels to write my journaling about a visit in a nature center at Ramon Crater.

How Sandra solved the Case File: I was inspired by the "school building" image, and used this little building that I created. I also still used the evidence, and colours to create the layout, and the layout is about my daughter's first day at kinder.

How Lisa-Marie solved the Case File: I took inspiration from this image in the form of the little animals, flowers and the sun and cloud! I also used a scallop design and decided to add a few hearts as well!

How Annie solved the Case File: I tried to capture the playful feel of the Case File for this page about a fun day out with the grandchildren. I used the colours and several items from the evidence list. The wood veneer piece reminded me of the barrels piled up behind us in the picture.

How Debbi solved the Case File: This was a fun page for me, I thought my grandson and his cousins looked kind of "Alien" in their helmets and goggles.. I hadn't planned on making this a traditional case but I ended up using all of the colours and many of the clues, too..

Under Surveillance - Our February Favorites

A big thank you to everyone who participated in our February challenges. We have chosen our favorite layouts inspired by the February Case Files.

Congratulations to all of our players who are highlighted! You can grab your badges here.

Here are our favorites from Case File No. 247. Here's a reminder of the Case File they used:

Tell your story. It's our tagline, and here at CSI, it's one of our missions to get our members to delve deeper into journaling--to document the meaningful bits and pieces that make up our lives. We would like to shine a special spotlight each week on a member who did an exceptional job telling their story. And we'd like to thank Scrapbook Fantasies for donating a wonderful prize to our Star Witness for each Case File.
Gunilla R
We were so touched by the story of Gunilla's dog and the loss of his precious dog friend. We love the way she put the journaling right on her page, and the photos she chose help to tell this beautiful story of canine friendship.

For each Case File, three of our favorite layouts are chosen to feature as our "Most Wanted," but we had so many superb submissions this month, that we had to sneak in a few extras.

Jennifer Stahr
We got a kick out of reading Jennifer's layout--we love the humor in her voice! The great series of photos helped to tell the story of this nifty fifty celebration!
